Convertible rear window

Any ideas on where I can get a replacement rear window for my 1995 328i convertible. Its the zip in type which I'm told is not easy to replace. Purchase price of a replacement item here in Australia is $800.00 AUD plus installation. Also need tension straps. Would I be better to replace the top? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Bill

What is wrong with the rear window?

Also, is the deck lid hitting the rear window? I have found a fix for this. I posted last week, entitled" tension straps fixed."

The window is cracking at the folding point, and is difficult to see out of, has lost its transperancy!

Ok... The haze comes off easily. But if it is cracked, looks like you need a new one.

I used Meguires clear plastic cleaner and polish. Funny thing was that the haze was on the inside of the window.

Do you know anything about the long term effects of Rain-X on plastic windows like this?

The zip in windows are definately an extreme pain in the #%^ . What makes you think the car needs straps? If it does, I would HIGHLY recommend taking it to a professional. If top material is in good condition, then I would leave it be --very expensive. Work a deal with who ever replaces the straps to throw in the rear window.

Rain-x , I have been told, has adverse affects on the windows. It has alcohol in it (amongst other things) that dries the plastic out. Albeit expensive, the BMW polish at the dealer is very good. They don't make the stuff just for the hell of it. It works.

If I remember correctly, the BMW polish is just rebadged Meguair's. (From a Meguair's distributor.) But don't quote me on that...
