				Instrument Batteries

Okay so I've got my dashboard all apart with a radio problem, I figure I'll swap out the batteries on my instrument cluster... since most of the labor is already done any way.

Where can I find the replacement ones? I have an 86es, with two lithium batteries. I tried Radio Shack, and Comp USA. RS had 3.6v ones but mine apear to be 3.0v. They had 3.0v but they apeared to be slightly larger. Where have people found theirs? Do dealers stock em? |

I have heard about this problem. Radio Shack should have them, if not I would try Fry's Electronics. One question, Do you have the VDO or Motometer board?

I'm going through the same process right now. The batteries on my SI board are 3.0v Sanyo with a number CR14250SE on them. RAdio Shack was not much help, they could order the batteries for 25.00 each. I found them at www.ebatteries.com for less than $10.00 each.

Look at your board to see how the batteries are soldered in. The batteries are offered with different pin configurations for mounting. Good Luck! |

Great site - their email help line said to charge them; the customer service person I talked to when placing the order said you couldn't. |

My batteries have arrived and there are no provisions for charging. I don't know of an available charger for this type. The sales rep also told me these don't need charging before installation.

As I explained where the batteries live, he cautioned low heat on the soldering iron and go slow to avoid overheating the board. Good Luck! |

He should have specified a low wattage soldering iron, not low heat. You should be able to just soldering them onto the board and they should charge.
