Reliability 325is or m3 e30?
I would imagine that it would be cheaper to maintain a 325is than an m3. However, is the difference night and day? I've heard that the 325is motors can go for well over 300k miles. Is this true of the e30 m3s as well?

Keith- look at it this way: there are a whole load of sixes out there compared to M3 mills. If you pop it, get another one.
They're going for around USD $750 here at the moment with 'puters & harnesses. That to me is a recipe for redline madness. I dont think the sixes loose out much at all in straight line performance either. Of course they're nowhere near as special a car. Good value for money though.

My "is" is tuned to about 210HP, and I'm extremely happy with the results. I also like the fact that I can pick up a used motor for around $750. as opposed to several thousand for an S14.

The E30 M3 is sweet. I'm tempted to say I like it even better than the E36 M3. However, that being said, it's a boatload to maintain.

Built the right way, the 325is can have the same peformance as the M3. For a lot less money as well.
