Battery drain

I have an 88 325ic that the battery loses its charge if the battery is left connected and the car is not driven for a day. I can jump start the car and it starts and will run fine all day but the battery will be dead the next day if I leave it connected. If I disconnect the negative cable while the car is parked and then reconnect it the battery keeps its charge. I used an amp meter and pulled each fuse one by one to isolate the circuit that is draining the battery but I did not find a change. I had the battery tested and I was told it is okay. Is there a way to test the alternator? I would appreciate any help in fixing this problem.

Thanks,
John

One more thing

I am also having a problem with the windshield wiper switch. This problem is intermittent. When I move the windshield wiper stalk to the on position the blades will not come on. This is also true when I move it to the washer position. When this problem happens I then move the stalk for the cruise control up and down once and then the wipers will work the next time I move the wiper stalk to the on position. This problem has been going on for most of 2003 and movement of the cruise control switch always causes the problem to go away temporarily. These switches are located close together on the steering column.

Thanks,

John

Sounds like you have a loose ground inside the steering cvolumn. I had something similar happen to me on my E30. I took the wheel off and inspected all the wiring, found a loose connector, I re-secured it and it solved the problem
