Wayne: When is the 101 Projects for the 3 Series Coming?

I have both of your other books on the 911 and now that I have the BMW, I need some projects for it. It was slated for the end of this year -- is that still on track?

Good question...I was thinking the same thing!

I'm working on it right now - should be here in 2004. It takes about 1500 hours minimum to write something like this (probably on average of about 15 hours per project, if you include the project, the photos, the writeup, editing, review, and final checkoff). Hot dog, if it takes me 1 hour to simply review each project, then that's a minimum of 100 hours!

Not bugging Wayne, just asking. I think it is great that you have written two books already and are working on a third. Your books address a niche that has helped a lot of people save a lot of cash on the maintenance of their cars and is a summary of some information that just does not exist elsewhere.

I hope there is a project on converting your 325i into a 325RS along the lines of a 1973 911RS. Lightweight carpets, flat door panels, lightweight trim. Could be a fun project!

He hasn't even gotten the 101 projects done and you're asking for the extreme projects book . I agree though, I'd love something along those lines, how about a book on S50/M50 swaps too. I know Zionsville autosport has a CD on the swap, however, they don't include relocating the motor for better weight distribution and I've been told that they are a bunch of idiots. I've also been told that they are helpful, so I don't know what to believe.

I think those projects are a bit out of the scope of the book right now. Maybe in a few years after this one is done. I've always thought you could find a way to put a M5 engine into a 3-series and supercharge it somehow...

I guess that's why you're writing the books. I'm thinking too small.

My car would be a perfect test subject for that.

I'd happily volunteer my car for that project, if Jared changes his mind.
