Is anyone out there interested in doing a BMW run in the Los Anggeles area? IM thinking theres a lot of good roads out there that we could run and then stop off for some lunch. Anyone interested?

Pelican Bimmer meet up
Possibly a future get together on the east coast, Virginia with many curvy mountain roads with many scenic vistas, historical areas, vinyards, etc.?

I'd def be up for a run with Aggie, So let me work it all out.
1. 2741 miles to Virginia Beach 2. figure 4 days to get there, averaging 685 miles a day 3. Do an oil change once I get there 4. Do the run, then head up to DC to see the Smithsonian 5. Drive back to Los Angeles Yeah, I think it's doable |

I'd be interested in something one of these days, but it sounds like a lot of the board is scattered over on the wrong (east) coast.
I am in San Diego, but I would be willing to take a nice drive over to Palm Springs some morning in the winter. How about January? An early drive over the mountains, earl lunch in Palm Springs at someplace nice and back by dinner? Palm Springs might be able to drag in some Arizona and Las Vegas area guys. How many other E30 guys are in the San Diego area? Perhaps we could recruit some of the members (E30M3) from the M3 board. Rich

The Sin City Chapter of the BMW CCA will be driving to Palm Springs/Palm Desert for the 3 day MLK weekend. This is the 2nd year we are doing it. We'll be staying in Palm Desert.

This sounds like a good opportunity. I checked out the Sin City site and your local newsletter (the Sin City Screamer) and the room rate sounds really good. January 16-17-18 is the date and the deadline for the discounted room is December 15th.
I doubt I can get away for the three day weekend, but could probably make a day trip. Do you have an agenda? Maybe we could meet up there and make one of the driving events? Is there going to be a rally or an autocross or something? Are non-Sin City members eligible for the room rate? Rich

No one will be checking id so just say you are part of the group. This is a social event though and no events are planned. Wives and girfriends will be there for the shopping etc. It will be an informal get together. The driving event is the 250 mile drive using the off the beaten path route to get there from LV. We did the route last year on very rural roads that have many hills etc and will test out your suspension. In the rural areas we did mostly 90 mph with occasional spurts into triple digits to pass and catch up. One hint tho. Have a V1 Radar unit. One car that was not in a group with a V1 got caught at 94 mph in his 540i as he crossed under route 40 in CA, he now has one. We did the run in a few small groups depending upon when we wanted to leave. Let me (I'm VP) or the club know if you attend so we can meet and so that you are assured the good room rate.

Our chapter president who has done more schools than I can count including twice at Nurburgring that I know of is very much a female and still loves to shop. She and her husband have a Euro delivery '02 M3 (her daily driver) and a Euro delivery '03 330i Performance Pkg. They also have a '95 M3 race car that they trailer to and participates in several of the west coast races. Being BMW junkies has not tapered my wife's nor many of our female members interest in shopping. They drive there (Palm Springs/Palm Desert) or wherever and see what stores are there.
A significant number of our driving school participants and volunteer workers at the LV Motor Speedway are female as well. With one of the smallest chapters (330+ members) it is welcome participation with a core group of male and female members pitching in to plan & organize the outings. We have 1 business mtg and 1 tech session/social outing every month. This month (Nov) we had a visit from Will Turner at our tech session. Come on out Aggie and visit, we welcome visitors. The invitation still stands Aggie! Our driving school at LV Motor Speedway is in mid May of 2004. If there was a peaceful way of staying away from the shopping aspect on the Palm Springs outing it would sure save money. It is a ton of fun anyway and the food is good. It is a very rural area we pass thru to get there. One community sign we pass said pop 12, yes twelve. Talk about the boondocks.
