Help....BMW 318i......pics

I just picked up a 1985 BMW 318I for basically nothing (police impound)....The guy told me that it had an exhaust leak. I looked under the car and low and behold there is no exhaust from the header back. The car will turn over fine but will not start. I put gas in it and it still wont start. I am new to the world of BMW cars and would appreciate any help.

Thank you,
Rod

DO NOT try to start this car without an exhaust from the header back, you risk doing SERIOUS damage to the engine, if it hasnt been done already. You ever see on dragsters where they stick tennis balls in the headers when the car isnt driving? It's to keep the outside air from hitting the valves. The sudden temperature change can crack or break valves. (ask me how I know) Get an exhaust before you try to drive this.

If the car wont start, I dont think it's because of the exhaust, back pressure isnt enough of a factor on these cars. I would start diagnosing if you have air, spark, etc... then go from there.

Thanks Jared. Do you know where I can get the exhaust used or inexpensive?

Thanks,
Rod

We carry the pre-muffler and cat for $230, and the rear meffler for $92.25

You might want to try 2002AD or Harouts in Los Angeles for used exahust components.
