E30's competition

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for an E30 and have about $3000 for a car. I want it to be a E30 325 "i" or "is" it doesnt matter. On the track, what's the competition this car has in its "class"?. I'm also looking at the Nissan 1991 240sx (DOHC engine), and a 87-88 924S or some kind of 944. I have my eye on a first generation rx7 as well but it's a GSL so i think it's only got a 12a engine. I want to start with autocross and move up to road racing. Does anyone suggest a car I might have missed? Please be sure to let me know how they do on the track in their "class".
