Windshield washer
Now that the weather has turned to slush here in NE I need to be able to use my windshield washer. It's not being very cooperative. I have an '88 325iX. I thought the pump was bad because I have 12 volts at the plug when I operate the switch. Bought a pump and till it doesn't work. I have since noticed the following: 1) The wipers don't run when pulling on the switch unless the pump is disconnected. 2) I have twelve volts on both brown and purple wires with the key on and the switch NOT pulled. 3) When I pull the switch I lose the twelve volts on the brown wire but do no get a ground. The pump works if I ground the brown wire but would run continuously with the key on regardless of switch position.
Sorry so long but I wanted to paint the picture. Anyone else had a imilar problem? Any help would be appreciated. TIA, Roy |

I'm having the same problem. Have you ever found a solution for fixing it?

My solution for the windshield washer problem was to install a seperate switch for the washer pump. I left the original wires in place and when I press the new button for the pump the wipers still operate. I know this is cheating but I was out of time and it works.
