guages and a problem
I inherited my brother's 1989 325i 5 speed and before he gave it to me, he had to replace the guages from another car. He purchased the "new" guages from a salvage yard and the first thing that I noticed is that the tachometer is way off. The temp guage flickers around and I dont think that it is giving a correct reading. The fuel guage reads ok but when I fill the tank completely off, it flickers from full to almost full. Is it possible to put 318i guages in a 325i or something? I am just thinking that he may have purchased the wrong guages or something. The last problem that I have is that the backlighting for the speedometer side of the guages is not working. Any suggestions??

Hmm,
The electrical connections on the BMW clusters are a big pain.
Be sure to use a pencil eraser and some wd40 on yours. Here is a procedure and some picture. http://e30m3performance.com/maintenance/SI_Board/SI_Board.htm And yes I do pull the steering wheel each time. Later, |
