2.7 to 2.5
Sup gang. I'm researching putting a 2.5 into my 88 325. Currently has a 2.7e motor in it. Has anyone ever done this, and possibly any info on parts I will need, if I buy a reman 2.5. (harness, cpu, etc....) also, if any know what parts are compatable between the two, if any. Thanks

2.5 engine
Also, any of you have any good insight on where to buy a 2.5 motor. There is a local bmw garage, that has a used one, which I would have to rebuild, I'm looking to go with a reman engine (that I dont have to rebuild) or any good websites to check out on the issue

I cant say for sure what you need, however I would suggest selling the 325 and just buying a 325i. The costs involved with switching everything over will be more than just buying a 325i. Things you will need....
M20B25 engine harness computer new exhaust system all the way to the rear of the car different cooling system hoses different flywheel |

New exhaust is going to be put on the car anyway, which is one of the reason I am getting the info now. No sense in building up the 2.7 if its going to be swapped. A local bmw garage, has the harness and cpu for it, which he has offered to give me, if I buy the engine through him, and hes giving me a killer price, which is why I didnt think of buying a 325i. I just wanted to get some info on other things I will need for the swap

Trust me, it's goig to be much easier and cheaper to buy a 325i.

I second Jared's motion. 325i's or is's are all over the place. Just buy the whole car.

I'd just get the is because it's cheaper and less time conusming. If I were going to do a motor swap, it would have to be something really far out to justify the time and labor involved. Like putting an M3 motor or a 3.5 or something.
If you go out and find yourself a nice is with the sport leather seats, you'll be happy with it. If you do go through with an engine swap, remember that you'll need a new instrument panel because the is engine turns faster. Randini |

Do the wiring harnesses match up? I read somewhere that you can out an I engine into an Eta car without changing the harnesses. Is that correct?

boy I really don't know. I'll bet KC Ron Carter could answer that one. To get his attention, post a new thread with this question.
