318i engine swap 91 318is to 84 318i
I was scrounging around the local wrecking yards today and noticed the 91 318is I was pullling from had an intact motor with all the other parts still on the car. It was a 4cyl, but looked much different than the m10 I have in my 84. The intake, distributor, valve cover where different. Does anyone know what engine this would be? Is this a swap that can be done, and is it worth it? Time, money, hassle?
Just curious. |

m42 engine. Much better than the M10, but you would need almost the whole car to do the job.

Agreed. Transmission is different as well. Better off just buying a 91 318is.
