Driver's side Window Dead

I have a 1996 328is and today I noticed that when shutting the driver side door the window wouldn't go up as is supposed to. Well I then tried to roll the window down and up and I hear a click but the window is dead.
Checked the fuses and they are all ok.
The right side passenger window works fine.
Could it be the window motor / regulator ? what is the diff btw the 2?
How much is it roughly and is installation hard?

Thanks

Sounds like the regulator may have slipped a track.. You might want to rtemove the door panel and check that the window regulator frame is ok... Sometimes, you can just pop it back into place..

Diffently sounds like your sliders broke on your regulator>>you can easily replace the sliders>>but if the regulator is bent it also will have to be replaced>>Not hard either but if its never been changed you have to drill out the rivets>>and replace with bolts. Can you hear the motor working???

you know, im sort of having the same problem, except my window will go down when i push down on it a little, but to come back up i have to manually lift it up, the motor is working and nothing seems to be loose or broken?

then you have the same problem>>ur sliders are broke and the mounts are UNDER the regulator mounts>>pull the door panel & check the regulator>>if its not bent replace the white slider peices>>the new ones come with locking pins>>dont remove the pins>>slide them into the track>>with grease>>then snap the regulator mounts into them>>i use a small pair of channel locks to snap them on>>if the regulator looks bent in any way>>replace it or it will keep popping off>>might even break the glass
