Well i brought my mp3 cd (car) player into work today and hooked it up to 12v and stood it up vertically (90degree angle) and it plays cds and mp3s just fine. So i am going to go head and install the player in the 320i and see what happens. It does eject and pull in cds ok with no trouble. the only other thing that i would wonder is what will happen over time. If the mechanics will where out faster.

I would imagine that the eject function will have added stress on it. Take a look at the back of the unit and see if there is a azimuth switch on it. Some players have a switch to coordinate changes in the mounting angle...
