Angry Broke Bolt Off In Head!!!

I installed the 14 head bolts. Then there are 2 smaller bolts that go in the front of the head. The upper one (close to the air box) is ok. The Lower one, however, goes into the block and broke off!!! I dont want to have to take the head back off!! What do you think my chances are of drilling it out and backing the bolt out thru the head and in the block?!?

once the head is broke off it usually releases the pressure & should come out fairly easy>>depending on how deep ~

I have always had luck using a Screw Extractor (EZ Out)

Get a good one that is the right size. Make sure you drill in the exact center of the bolt.

I don't know exactly where the bolt you are talking about is, but if you can drill all the way through the bolt this will make it easier as it also relieves pressure. Just consider what is on the other end. A metal shaving or two might fall through.

This happened on my 86 325es. The bolt was so stuck that I drilled a smaller hole, used a tap & die & mounted a smaller bolt into the larger stuck bolt. Just make sure you use a really strong bolt.

Be careful drilling tho, you don't want to go larger than the bolt width.

When this happened on my E30, I just indexed the stud with a dremel and used a flat head screwdriver to unscrew it...
