I have had an ongoing problem with my temp gauge (89 325is); it is always pegged. After reading through posts and such I have noticed it is a common problem. Now maybe I could get some tips. First I will tell you what I know isn't the problem.
The grounding nut on the back The SI batteries The temp sender Nothing was done to the car before this started, it just happened one day. I am really struggling to figure this out. Could someone give me some tips on how to test the wiring to the gauge and the gauge itself? I have a volt/ohm meter. Or do you have any other ideas? I am desperate to figure this out since the weather is horribly hot and I afraid to even run my AC, heck I am half afraid to drive the thing at all. Thanks in advance for any help! |

check for continuity between the wire to the gauge and to the sender. use longer wires if you need to.
