EWS Code 94 problems
Hi guys,
First post here but have been lurking a while. Great site! I love the tech articles! Here is my trouble. 97 318ti 59k miles. Wife was driving when all of a sudden car stalls. I drive it and car runs fine then under any acceleration or idle or at any speed, engine drops to idle or even stalls. This occurs randomly. I use my Peake tool and it reads 94 EWS error. I reset the Fault Code and the car runs fine. This just happened yesterday so now sure if it will reoccur? Could one of my keys be bad and is not being read by the EWS ring antenna? Or would the car even start at all? I heard there was a BMW tech bulletin on this issue but not sure where I might find a copy? Thanks for any and all input! Mike |

Possible alarm involved
Not alot of input huh, folks. I guess it is bit of a unique problem.
I have determined the factory alarm might be involved as it only does it after we have armed and then disarmed the alarm. Anyone had previous alarm problems? Mike |

The car wouldnt start if it didnt recognize the key...dont think it would cut off tho if it wz intermittent....even if the alarm was acting uP.....it would only effect when starting.....that was the only fault code????

Hey Florida Mike,
I have the same problem on my '97 Ti. and I have the same Peake Research tool that told me error 94 ews. BUT, here is the kicker, I took my car to local DINAN for ckeck and they told me a different story. EWS did'nt showup on their radar, but the Camshaft position sensor did, read my thread at the top of the forum. cheers!
