New set of wheels...AGAIN!

Hey guys-

I've been a bit busy lately so haven't had that much time to post these days. Glad to see the forum is still active. I'm quite a big lover of rims and tires and its rather difficult for me to hang onto a set of wheels longer than 6 months. It's also hard for me to decide exactly which tire is my favorite.

I sold off my 2nd set of contours (will probably buy another set in the future....they sure are sexy rims) and replaced my BBS RX with the OEM 1995 M3 Doublespoke I rims. These wheels are so mint they make me cry. There's 1 one inch rash on one of the wheels and thats it. I'm afraid to park these days for fear of making the first noticable signs of rash on these wheels. However, I'm not TOO afraid because the rears are shod in 245/40/17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. Fronts are 225/45/17 Pilot Sport A/S also. I must admit - the Pilot sport definitely lives up to all its hype. The all season version supposedly is more comfortable and quiet while also lasting a lot longer. However, the grip on these tires is phenomenal and blows away the wannabe Kumho 712s. The tires are a bit pricey and I'm not sure if they are worth the $200 price (each!!!!). The Pilot Sports A/S can be driven in all conditions, including snow, yet still performs great in dry. It has a treadwear rating of 400 compared to the summer Pilot Sports of 220. I'll post up some pics after my trip to vegas.

If anyone is looking for a set of BBS RX 17x8 - let me know!

You change rims & tires more than most people get gas. How do you recoup your costs, when a set of rims & tires costs ya 2k? The thing that really boggles my mind, is if you like the contours so much, why do you keep gettin' rid of them. Post a pick of the BBS with how much ya want.

NEW TIRES AGAIN!

New tires every 6 months, a rash on tires. Have you considered therepy for your addiction to tires? I am being serious, the rims make you cry. Seriously babe, seek therepy. You will save your money and people around you will be happy, your not crying over your rims. LMAO!

GOOD LUCK WITH THEREPY!

Just came back from a quick trip to vegas.

Initial impressions of the Pilot Sport A/S-

Tires are smooth, quiet, soft, predictable, and handle exceptionally well. On the highway the car is amazingly quiet and over bumps and imperfections the tires seem to absorb them much better than anything I've ever had. I've gone through Nitto NT555, Pirelli Supersport P7000, Continental Contisport Contact, Kumho 712, Yokohama AVS Intermediates, Kumho MX, Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus and now the pilot sports. The Kumho MX is the only tire that can compare with the Pilots. Simply amazing tires. There was a brief stretch where it was raining pretty hard (raining near vegas...go figure...) and I felt perfectly safe doing 75 mph. But then again, Im from SoCal so I'm not much of a wet weather driver to begin with.

One thing to note - with these new wheels/tire combination I get about 1-2mpg worse compared to the BBS setup. I'll weigh them each to see how much unsprung weight I've gained or lost.

Pics will be coming shortly....I don't know where my camera cable has gone.

Just put on Pilot Sport A/S (225/50 ZR16). They are incredible and live up to their reputation. Paid $704 (after $50 Michelin rebate) installed at Discount Tire. I've been driving on Michelins for 22 years and have never been disappointed.
