Wayne @PP
Wayne - saw your extensive input on another e36 discussion , so I need an opinion from you. I currently own a 1984 944 in very nice condition and a 94 miata, also nice....my kids have taken over the Miata, leaving me with no topless option....so I am looking at selling the 944 and upgrading to a 944 Cabrolet - the problem is that cab owners seem to think VERY highly of their cars - so much so that I believe they are way over priced - hence I am looing at an e36 convert. I have a long interstate commute each day (55 min each way) so I like a car that can cover some ground quickly and I know the e36 will not quite measure up to an 944 s2, but as a sporty, topless daily driver - how will the e36 work out? Based on budget, I am lookin in the $10,000 range, so I am guessing an early 90's model with 75k miles on it, more or less.... ****anyone made a similar jummp? anyone else with some insight - feel free to share!...Thanks

yeah, the 944 cabs are definitely overpriced. It seems odd that a 944s2 coupe runs for around 8-9k, and then a cab will push the price up another 4k??? In terms of performance, the e36 cab will definitely not match u[p to the 944s2. However, it still offers a ton of fun along with comfort and luxury and great styling. The car will feel a bit more luxurious than an 84 944 and im sure you'll enjoy the extra features like cup holders and a cold ac system. If you want serious performance, go with an m3 convert. They are a bit more than 10k but the extra styling bits and beautiful m3 engine are well worth it.

Thanks for the input! Actually, I really like the 944....I have cold ac and converted the ashtray in the center console to a cup holder for one.....but I just can't see $14000 for a 15 year old ragtop car with 100,000 miles on the clock...........when there are others that will fill the bill, I believe...that will be newer and fewer miles...thanks

Wayne is off the boards for the moment. He's had a few other things on his mind... Moving, breaking a foot, the birth of his first child...
