limited slip differential lifetime
I know swapping an open diff for a used limited slip is a pretty common mod for e30 guys. Or at least it's often recommended. Anyway, since the limited slip mechanism in these diffs is a clutch-type, they must eventually wear out. What would the expected lifetime be before a used LSD turns into an open diff?

guessing from lack of response, and from research, an lsd will last a life time if properly cared for.. (fluid level maintained)

I don't think it will last forever even with proper maintainance. Clutches are based on friction, and any system based on friction will eventually wear out - pressure plates, brakes, etc.
