89 E30 tweeter panels? what's the part #?

hi,

i've a 89 E30 325i.

the plastic panels in the lower, front corners of my driver/passenger front windows (where my custom tweeters are mounted) need to be replaced.

does anyone know what the silly things are called? specifically, i'm looking for part #s to purchase.

these are NOT the "tweeter pods" w/ BMW tweeter installed ... rahter, JUST the 'flat' panels, which I'll mount my own on ...

thx,

richard

I recently scored a pair of the flat panels you describe (I call em ‘triangle pieces’) from a local salvage yard.

Don’t see where the part numbers are a big whoop.. your dealer can get that in like 5 seconds.. and for as simple of a part as they are, they gotta be cheap even from the dealer.

Looked through the Interior Trim and Misc sections of Pelican’s online catalog and couldn’t find it.

Spent some time with BMW software/program purchased from eBay and turned up some results:
The part you’re after may be called a ‘corner element’.
part #’s indicated by program along with old/superceded numbers:
Right current part # : 51 32 1 924 918
Right old part # : 51 32 1 904 532

Left current part # : 51 32 1 924 917
Left old part # : 51 32 1 904 531

Plugging these numbers into Pelican’s search feature turned up odd results. Entering the current numbers provided something called a ‘covering euro’. Entering old (right side) number will turn up a ‘corner element’ for the right side.. but no results come up when entering old (left side) number (?).

This was perhaps not much help. I mean well..

Not sure where you got those numbers...

According to my information, the correct part numbers are

Left, 65-13-1-377-687
Right, 65-13-1-377-688

These are for the complete panel with speaker installed.. $46.00 each, however they must be special ordered from the dealer.

Might be easier to just find them at a junkyard, as you will have to pry the old speaker out of the panel, (the eisting tweeters are junk IMHO).. When i did this, I had to use a hot knife , and carefully cut it out...

- Typically ships within one week.
- This is a special-order OEM part and is non-returnable except for warranty replacement.

OEM-51321904518
COVERING/RT
$4.60 1 $4.60

NOT CORRECT
I ordered parts based on the OEM numbers above, and received two panels that did not have molded sockets for the tweeters - BMW searched on the parts numbers above, and did not come up with tweeter covers. According to my dealer, the tweeter covers are no longer available from BMW, and did not come on my car (1988 325iS).

Anyway, the number molded into the backside of my panel (from the driver's side):

1 377 687 3L
ITT
27525 10154

I'm going to go back to the dealer with this number - he said he might be able to track down the BMW part number equivalent.....

Keep you posted.

i'm not sure why you say that's NOT CORRECT ...

that's exactly what (a) i was looking for originally:

and (b) exactly what i correctly received from PelicanParts, using the part nos. i posted

and hence, (c) exactly what you *should* have received =)
