Just replaced the right front wheel bearing on my 89 325iC, and it still makes that growling noise (loudly) from the front only, on left turns! I'm confused. Anybody have any guesses?

Could it have been the left bearing that was bad? Does steering the car make the noise go away?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yep. What confuses me is 'common' knowledge always said that if you grind when you turn left, the right front wheel bearing is shot. But I'm guessing that's not always true. After replacing the right wheel bearing, it still grinds when the car is turning or bearing to the left. Silent when straight ahead. After more careful listening, I'm sure it's still up front, and the only conclusion is that the left one also needs replacing. But considering the expense, I am seeking a more qualified opinion. |
