pretty open ended question there Gav..

you’ll find many e30 related issues are shared throughout models.

links worth checking:

google search w/ words like: bmw e30 tech articles
read over forum questions. search topics.
you’ve got a fun project before you. enjoy!

Yes those are good references for the E30... However he has a E21...

First thing to do is run an aux. Ground from the alternator chassis to the frame. That will solve 50% of you problems right there. These cars didnt have the best electrics....

Do you have any specific questions?

My 77 320i is a complete nightmare. I rescued it from a backwoods abandonment. I've been slowly restoring over the past 2 years and every time I do one thing it turns into about 10 other things. I'm actually thinking of just parting it out on e-bay. I prefer the E30 much more. It looks better and it's easier to find parts not to mention that I am so familliar with the E30 now after 3 years. Good luck with it.
