Exclamation 1993 E30 325iC question

Hi all... I have a 1993 325ic. It was the last year of the E30 body style for the convertable. I am having a hard time finding shocks for my model. The vendors claim their books only go to the 1991 year.

My question is this... what shocks would work on my car? will shocks for a 1991 325ic work on my 1993? Do you recommend KYB, Bilstein, Borg, Tokico,...?

Thanks!

Actually, the E30 iC only went to 92. Maybe thats why you are having trouble?

Depends, you looking to lower the car? You want some stiffness?

The suspension will be the same for any iC model from 87-92

I would like to lower it and yes... stiffen it up a little. I also want to maybe put on some 16 or 17 inch rims. Thanks.

BTW... my title says it is an 1993... maybe it has a late 1992 manufacture date.

keep in mind that with 17 inch rims, you will need to install eccentirc offset bushings in order to correct the camber.

For the E30 iC, you'll need to order specialized sport springs from EIbach or HR, then run Either Koni or Bilstein Sports...

Are you saying you would not recommend the Tokico suspension kit?

Thanks for the info. How hard is it to install eccentirc offset bushings? Should I just go with 16 rims instead or is the offset required for either?

In order to change the bushings, you'll need to remove the trailing arms from the car.. Not an easy job

I think 16 is pushing it in terms of camber..

I'm curious and ignorant, why would larger diameter wheels make any difference since the overall dimensions of the tire remain constant?

I'd really like to get a set of 16s, but it seems that all the wheels I like come with 35 mm offsets so I'm looking at spacers, but don't know if I should go for a 8 or 15 mm spacers with a 205 width tire. Now bushings for some camber problem

I'm confused as well. I am having problem getting answers to the "offset" question. I have found 16 and 17 " rims I like but can not get a really convincing answer as to why and if I need offsets and what size.

Well you will have offset whether you like it or not It's just a measure of the wheel like diameter. Offset will determine how close the wheel is to the fender. I hear 25 mm is a good offset to have in general. Tirerack has a bunch of e30 rims with an offset of 35mm so they should fit, but I think it puts some more of the tire toward the strut and leaves some fender space that could be filled instead.
