Need help unusual!

its about my 1995 m3 obd 1 production date 09/95 it happens sometimes and doesnt sometimes. when i start the car, the RPM meter doesnt run at all it just sits dead, everything else works. After a while it pops up goes dead pops up goes dead etc... but after a while again it seems to work fine. while driving some times it just works and sometimes doesnt. Wierd huh?. anyone please help.

also i have a 1994 325i i had the check engine light on. then i took it to the harold zeigler dealership for inspection they told me it was the oxygen sensor that reads in the code. but they say my car was misfiring. So i what i did was i replaced all the ignition coils, and a new Oxygen sensor. But the check engine light is still on. What could be wrong? Btw car doesnt accelerate very well, the car drives VERY smooth, but even when i hit the pedal it just accelerates half of what it does usually.

PLEASE HELP!!! thanks.

Hey there -

I just read a January 2005 Roundel article where the guy seemed to have the same trouble with his M3; something about a small coding plug attched to the front of the service-interval circuit board. He swapped that out and it solved the tachometer problem.

His email address is mcalabrese@roundel.org - perhaps he'll send you the article or tell you how you can get it so you can know more..

For the other problem - not sure - fuel filter or fuel pump? Your oxygen sensor could have been bad as well, but misfiring and poor acceleration could be the filter or pump..

Hope this helps..

RE the "also" problem:

Did you reset the service light after you made the repairs? It doesn't automatically go off.

Since you are still having acceleration problems you prob still have something wrong. Start simple with plugs and maybe wires then get prof help.
