Cooling Maintenance on E36

OK - i think you guys may have the most COMPREHENSIVE system i have seen thus far. i own a 98 323is and i need to do a complete overhaul of the system including,

1) radiator & hoses(2)
2) thermostat & housing
3) water pump
4) both belts
5) all 3 power steering hoses

* i have purchased all of the parts (before i found you guys - sorry bout that).
* from what i can decifer on the other boards, the work above without any unforeseen event will take an expert 3-4 hours.
* i have removed all the plastic in preparation for the cosmo CAI & the front cover already, so after the fan is removed - it is ready to go.

can someone who does this routinely CONFIRM the amount of LABOR for this total task? thanks in advance guys. *also, this process including the message board for advice and sharing, parts, instructionals, etc. is pretty addicting. i make a few repairs and all of a sudden, i want to modify my whole car. kudos to the owners and moderators makin it happen.

4 hours? Maybe if I was drunk.

I'm pretty sure I could replace the rad, hoses and t-stat in 1/2 that time. Depends on how well one knows the engine, I guess.

Why replace all 3 p/s hoses? Are all 3 leaking?

thanks for the reply. i have been researching this deal for about a week or so. i know for a FACT that 2 of the hoses are LEAKING & just ordered the 3rd JUST IN CASE. i figured about 4 hours DIY, so the 2 hours for a tech that works on BMW's everyday sounds right. *i am not real comfortable with bleeding the brakes as i have no one to really help me right now. she still runs great so, no impending sense of urgency.

*** any thoughts on a first flush at 127k miles. i thought i read somewhere that this could cause internal damage. i going back to OEM blue fluid. i have been adding the green for a couple of years unaware it could cause an issue. this site is the best OVERALL board considering PARTS, INFORMATION & HELP are all one ONE site. i'm getting into all of the modifications now considering i have to make some repairs. *i am looking to open the 323 up with a set of HEADERS and EXHAUST SYSTEM next. no one offers a complete set for the 323 it seems. however, there are alot of COMPLETE KITS for the 328 and above? thanks again for answering my question.

Here is a good info on brake flushing. http://www.gadgetonline.com/BrakeFlush.htm

I have the Motive Power Bleeder and it works great. The EUROPEAN fitting works for BMWs.

That's it. I also got the universal fitting so I can do my Toyota 4x4 too.
