Angry 93 325 is MAF fault code 1215

Ok, my car was fine last night and I get in it this morning and it's a no go. IT turns over, revs to idle, then dies. The OBD 1 is flashing 1215 for the mass air flow meter fault repeatedly when I check it. I unplugged the MAF and it tried to run but was missing and backfiring through the throttle body. I changed the MAF with a new $300 MAF (kind of pricey) and it is still doing the same thing. all the wires look good fro mthe MAF to the computer. And the intake boot is in good shape with no holes. any ideas?

Smile update

Fixed the problem today. Believe it or not, a leak in the vacuum hose behind the throttle body did all this. turns out the MAF was fine. and thank you BMW for the refund on the MAF. Anyway, I'm back on the road . -------- Mike
