DME Replacement Question
I have a 1995 325is, Production date 6/95 with a bad DME and found one for sale on the internet for a good price. It has the same part number 0261200413 and the same silver label. It is from the exact same year and model as my car also. The problem is that I have a manual transmission and this DME is from a automatic, also the other numbers on their DME dont match mine at all. Couldnt I still use this DME for my car?. I will have it realigned at dealer to match EWS info if it works in my car. Thanks in advance.

The engine management control should be the same. As far as I know, the DME for the auto tranny vehicles has extra I/O's to control the tranny, in addition to the main inputs/outputs. If your multipin plugs right into it, there shouldn't be a problem... there will just be no pins on your receiver to connect to the tranny. Although, it may show up as an error code reading with no feedback from the tranny, or the DME may be smart enough to sense there isn't a tranny there and just go about its business. The first thing would be that you would have to check if your wiring harness matches to the multipin connector.
