How many miles on one tank?

Hey all~ I'm pondering yet another thing. When I fill up my '96 328i (manual) with fuel (supreme), the OBC says +430 miles. I don't think I could ever get that many off of one tank ever! I also calculated it out, and that would would mean 25 mpg with the 17.2 gallon tank. Does anyone ever come near that? I mean, granted, we all rally our cars at some point, but I filled up last week and my gas light is on with only 300 miles on the tank which is less than 19 mpg. Also, my oxygen sensor is about shot; the light keeps coming on and off, and I diagnosed it when it was on. It's "O2 sensor: bank 2 sensor 1, circuit slow response." Is that precat or post? I just did plugs and it runs great warm. My mechanic said that the slow response had to do with the sweep during the warming up of the car, so it wouldn't affect it when warm. So back to my original question: How many miles (usually) to one full tank of fuel?

For my E36 M3. I get about 23mpg with mixed hard driving. The furthest I 've gone before filling up is 326mi. My largest fillup is 15.7gal.

Your gauge and gas light will show empty well before you use all of the 17.2gal The 430 miles is probably based on 16 of the 17.6 gals. So they are expecting more like 27mpg. You should be getting more than 19mpg.

I can get over 400 miles on a tank, on a long trip. Most of the time I fill up at about 350 miles.

almost exactly 100 miles per 1/4 tank. If i run it low i'll hit the 400 mile mark. 75% highway. 20% around town. 5% driving like a lunatic bangin the redline and flingin her around. average 23 mpg. ya cant beat it!!!
