Engine cuts out while driving.

My new boss found out two things about me today, I own a Beemer and i fix it myself.
So of course the questions started to flow.

He has an 89' 318i, the engine dies while driving along if he keeps rolling it can clutch it's self back into life, sometimes when it wont restart if it sits for 5mins it will start and run again no problems.
He says it's an intermittant problem but is becoming more frequent.

Have any of you heard of this before? Could it be computer related?

ANY help would be apprecieated, after all he is the boss and I like my new job!!

First thing - check all the hoses and the boots for vacuum leaks. This is one of the most common failures, and the easiest to fix...
