What's under there??

Hi All,

I drive a 1989 318, and am wondering what, if anything, is inside the carpeted area beneath the centre console which houses the stereo and ash tray etc.
I was thinking of maybe fitting some speakers down here but didn't want to go making holes in it if something important is in there!

Any ideas?

There is a small amount of room in there, but nothing really large enough to mount a subwoofer or anything like that...
