94 325I vibration issue

need some help...

1994 325I drives great at crusing speeds or rpms below 5,000 and or 1/2 to 3/4 acceleration.

Upon full throttle acceleration (past 5,500 rpm) it feels like the rear end is going to vibrate off. If anyone has had a torque converter fail, it feels like that-- lots of vibration.

I am thinking it is the flex disc or Flex Disc Guibo, but I am not sure.

Please help.

I have the same exact problem! Mine has gotten worse over the months, anytime I try to floor the car in 2nd gear, no matter what rpms, it'll shake and thud and rattle and feel like the whole car is gonna break.

I thought maybe it was due to bad exhaust hangers, I have yet to check.

Can anyone pinpoint what this problem is? I'm going to have to take it into the shop to try and figure it out!

I concour with above, it sounds like it is either the torque converter or the Guibo Coupling. Have you checked your ATF level lately?

had it checked in july. the car mostly sits. i've been trying to sell it lately, and the last to test drive it thought he was michael andretti. He wanted to make sure the rpm limit was really bumped up due to the chip i guess. Almost knocked him out after that one. ATF Should be ok.

ALSO CHECK YOU SUB FRAME BUSHINGS, IF THEY ARE BAD THEY CAN MAKE SOME FUNNY NOISES IN THE REAR END UPON ACCELERATION.

Did anyone ever figure out exactly what this problem was? I'm dealing with the same thing now.
