Question Check Engine Light Reset

I know I've seen a similar post as this somewhere but I never saw the solution. I have a 95 325IC and the check engine light came on last week. I tried the gas pedal technique to read out the stored codes and got a stream of 1221 codes - never ending. Since the "all codes displayed" code never appeared, I was not able to do the reset by holding down the pedal for 10 seconds.

Am I missing something? I've heard I can reset the stored codes by disconnecting the battery. I'd rather not do that if I don't have to.

I don't mind having to replace the O2 sensor if necessary, but I'd like to do a reset and see if the code gets stored again to confirm. The car runs fine.

I've never seen more than one code displayed, and it always repeats itself just like you noted. Once you correct the problem for the code, the CEL will go out on it's own but the code will still display when you read it. The ECU will clear the code itself after a set number of starts if no other problems exist and display 1444.

I have exactly same problem (even code is 1221). And I also would like to make sure the code is correct. And I need to reset CEL in this case. Is there way to reset it without additional equipment?

Disconnect the battery for a minute, it should reset. I finally did that, but after replacing the O2 sensor, so I still don't know if it was bad or not. However, the check engine light has remained off since then
