Oil Pump Prime

I've rebuilt my engine E36 325i and for my surprise there is no oil pressure!!!. I'm looking for a better solution than remove the crank itself.

Is it possible to prime the oil pump flowing oil thru the engine block (where the oil filter housing should be installed with molded ring gasket) and ratchet backwards or counterclockwise to permit the oil pass thru the oil pump?

Have some of you bimmer fans suffered this symtom before? Any input will be appreciated.

Jose

Never heard of anyone doing it but one of the block passages does lead to the pump.

From memory, the oil flows out of the block and into the oil housing through the rearmost quarter-sized valve in the bottom on the housing. just trace that back to the block. Or if you could find a way to compress the spring you could fill the filter housing and open the valve carefully by lifting the spring. That sounds dangerous though, if you break the valve the new oil filter housing id expen$$$ive.

Well Jeron, I've done it.

I've removed the oil filter housing and drop a hose with oil until it filled and spilled sideaway. After that, I counterclockwise the engine until the oil went down to the pump (Reverse Engineering).

After that, I tried clockwise and the oil went up. Problem solved. I started the engine without pressure problem. I've only a little smoke that is vanishing after warm up the engine..
