how do I get the "change oil"lights out

What's the secret to getting the lights out in the center of my dash? the manual does not give a procedure for those of us who change our own oil. thanks, hushpuppy

For the E36 you need a Peake tool or there is a procedure to short two of the pins in the diagnostic post. Try a couple of searches on this forum, I"m sure its been discussed here a few times.

thank you! just as you said, grounding pin 7 turned out the light. Just one difference on my E 30 325 ix was the location of the toward the front left side of the intake plenum. thanks again.

Just did the same procedure to my 1995 325is and worked out Great.

Grounded Pin 7 on the DLC for roughly 3.25 seconds and then again for 11 seconds for the other service light, now both of my service lights are cleared.
I just used wire with alligator clips from ground to Pin 7 rather than using resistors as he did on the write-up on the site (although that would be safer if you accidently grounded the wrong pin or something.)
Good luck to others who try this out.
