Help Please!!! Temperature controll doesn't work!

Hi!
I have this very weird problem, and if somebody had before me could you please help me or point me to the right direction? The following is the problem:
When I start my car the temperature controll buttons are dead. All of them. Then after 3-4 minutes the buttons are working properly like nothing happened. Then when I turn off the engine and restart the car the controlls are sometimes working sometimes not.
I couldn't figure out any pattern when the buttons are working and when are not. I assume there is a contact problem somewhere but I don't know where to look for it. I would appreciate any help or pointers how can I fix the problem. The cold is kicking in and I want to use the heat whenever I want to not when the car let me. Thank you very much

I have heard it happens a lot to the digital climate controls. Search this forum for climate control. Then search ebay for BMW climate control repair. There are a bunch. I found them while trying to find a fix for my analog controls. They all say they only fix the digital ones. I found this on another post

Had the exact same problem
I had the exact same problem/symptoms recently. This problem is well know for the 95 to 99 years.

A capicator fails on the climate control module. There is a procedure on the internet for the repair. If you are handy with soldering you can do it yourself.

There is a guy who repairs them on ebay for around $50.00US or you can buy one outright from him for $185.00US

I had mine repaired and it works just fine.

The problem with purchasing one from a parts house is that they all come from the factory to work in Celcius. If you want it to display Fahrenheit ( can't do this yourself, unfortunately) you will have to take it to a dealer who will want over $100.00 to set it to display correctly.

Climate controll

Thank you very much for the reply! I will probly send to the ebay guy my unit, I'd rather let him solder it. Thank you again for the fast response!
