check ebay. there are usually several used dme's for cheap. you'll need to match the last 3 numbers on your dme to get the right part and just type it in a search. for example, my 325is has a 413 dme. I searched ecu 413 and it brought up several.

Unless your DME has something wrong with it (which will exhibit all manner of symptoms), just replacing it will not get you any more power. If your car is misfiring, has odd driveability problems, and so on, and especially if they're worse after you wash the car, then a DME may indeed solve your problems. Just make sure to protect the new one from water intrusion.

dme
Ok i guess i phrased that wrong about the loss of power. I am running at about 70 percent of normal power. I did pull the dme out and its not a water problem issue. no rust no moisture. I did originally think it was the coils. I checked the coils they are fine as well as the sparkplugs. when i start the car i can hear from the exhaust that the airflow isnt right it studers and isnt smooth. I replaced the O2 sensor, and the airfilter. So i took the car into the shop and they said i need a new DmE. so my question is what year dme will work with my car. its a 92 325 i sedan 5 speed? Does anyone know the code on the dme? Does anyone have any other ideas instead of getting a new dme. Like i said its at about 70 percent of normal power.
