That year "might" have the plastic water pump impeller. I think it was 1995 -1996 but it may be 1994 also.
If it did have plastic I would think it would have broken by now. There is nothing I know of that is specifically bad about any particular year model of 3-series.

the system most annoying -my vote- on this series is the cooling system.
a common complaint is that the 92's thru the 96's had plastic impeller on waterpump-read frequent early failure. also, most people have no clue how to bleed the system initially. likely that includes some mechanics. if you are not into your own car repair you should be if you are serious on getting one this old. otherwise you will have normal high repair costs on an old car-not good. a usual recommendation is to pay for thorough inspection and get service and part replacement records. |

Hope I'm not jumping in too late here. 94 was one of the years with the ECM flooding issue so if you feel handy pull the cover off the box under the hood and look for water marks. I wish I would have done that before I had to spend the $300 for a used ECM on my 94. Other than that the car is great besides the normal wear issues. As jamin325i said, be prepaired to either do your own work or pay high priced repair bills as things wear out and definately get the inspection
