Does anyone know where I can buy the RTB removal tool without breaking my wallet?

$88 I think this is the cheapest. You still may have to cut or chisel the flange off the old RTAB if it is an M3. Use penetrating oil. I've heard of people making one froma standard puller. You need a puller with a special sized head on it. Get this RTAB 33-32-2-228-153 not this one 33-32-1-097-009.

Thanks for the website. You mean the tool itself doesn't do the job? Do you know if this tool can be rented?

Why should I get 33-32-2-228-153 and not this one 33-32-1-097-009? Is there a big difference?

The M3 RTAB has a flange that is in the way. It is soft pot metal and you can chisel it with a craftsman screwdriver and rip of chuinks with pliers or you can hack saw it off. I did a little of both.
Koala Motorsport (I think thats the name) rents a tool. Our local BMWCCA has a tool for members to borrow. The tool is just a specially desgned puller. It works well. Make sure to lube the threads of the tool with oil.

Thanks, I'll try to google Koala Motorsport and see if I can rent this tool. Do you think a C-clamp in conjunction with a cup at one end may work?

Jeron,
Thanks for informing me about Koala Motorsport, they have a really good Tech-page. |

Anything is possible. The big concern is time. I don't know how much money it is worth to you to spend 6 hours on a job that can be done in 2 with the right tools.
Some people just saw the old one out. And I suppose they hammer the new one in. You could buy the tool and then rent it a few times to recoup some of your money. Just make sure to get a full deposit.

Good luck. I didnt know how to align mine. You might want to research that. I think the platform is supposed to be level with the hub center.
If you are intersted in racing mods then Turner Motorsport and a couple of others make limiters that sit on either side of the RTAB.

I see what you're saying. I guess $88 isn't so bad as opposed to bringing it to a dealer and have them do this @ $180/hr. Cool.
