Gas Tank Cracked!!!!
Shop just called and said tank is cracked. $1576 for parts and labor.

I just read the Bentley procedure. You have to drain the tank, remove the exhaust, drive shaft and fuel pump but you don't need to remove the rear differential.
Its gonna be a big, messy and slightly dangerous job. What is the toughest thing you have tackled so far? Do you have a good workspace and appropriate tools?

It's looking like the wife is going to pass on the repair. So I will have to try to sell the car. Like I'll get anything for it.

Car is gone. Traded it to a BMW dealership for a 01 Volvo S60 with 69k they had on the lot. With trade in it was only $9k. Best I could find was $15K and more miles. Dealer must have had a lot of play room to give me a great deal and take a beat up 318i.
Not to fear I'm in no way leaving the Pelican realm with the Porsche 944S2 Cab still in the line up. |
