M Logo AC system leaking water onto floor...

The AC system in my 99 BMW M3 Conv. is leaking water onto the passangers side front floor. I am thinking the drain is plugged. I need to know the best way to get to the drain and check it.

Any thoughts on this would be great.

Thanks Guys...

If you had a/c work b4 they may not have the expansion valve cover on correctly-->U can also blow out the drains to make sure

Its highly likely that a quick look under the dash after a drive will locate the evaporator box. Its probably full of water, with lots of condensation all over it, so it will be the only wet black thing under there.

- Having found the wet black thing, now locate the drain tube which will run from the lowest section of the wet black thing down behind the carpet.

- Remove the carpets, and place a tray or lots of towels to collect the water that is going to come gushing in the next step.

- Pull the drain tube off the wet black thing. Chances are that not much will happen.

- Take a length of flexible wire, and poke around up into the wet black thing via the drain tube opening. Sometime soon a gusher of water will start, along with [just a guess] a bunch of leaf matter that was causing the blockage. Get as much of that leaf matter out as possible.

- Sop up the mess, check that the drain tube is clear, replace the drain tube.

- You might want to run a small electric heater in the car for a day or two until the carpets are dry. Leave the windows open while drying. Trying to dry it with closed windows will just recirculate the moisture.

All of this is generic, but this is a fairly generic problem. Hope this helps. If it does, thank a Porsche guy who is an absolute E36 nooob.
