We are in the midst of a rainy season. I am almost certain that at my last fill up at the fuel station I picked up water in my gasoline. The car starts normal but the engine begins to flutter after about 15 seconds. Applying gas reves up the car but it begins to flutter again and continues until the engine completely dies. I tried adding gas treatment to the tank to try drying out the water but with the engine fluttering and dying on me quickly I guess it doesn't have the opportunity to work. Any ideas or suggestions? Should I just drain the tank? (if yes, how do I do this?) My '94 318i has been parked for a week now and I miss it so badly, it breaks my heart every day.

How much water do you think you have? I would put in a specific gas dryer treatment and try to drive it.
You could try draining some of the gas. After letting it sit for a day or so the water should pool at the bottom of the tank. You could pull a pressure line at the pump or filter and turn on the ignition and let the pump run a half gallon of so out of the tank. The filter would probably be a good spot since there may be some water there since it is the lowest spot in the system.
