Ticking sound in drive shaft

I have a 1993 325is with an automatic transmission it has 90,000 K. When the weather got cold I noticed that when the car started moving I could hear and feel a ticking or clicking sound from the drive shaft area under the shifter. When I go faster the noise would tick faster. Engine speed and gear selection don’t change the sound frequency. When the car warms up the ticking goes away. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

So the guibo is used rather than a u-joint? I have only had a BMW 9 months.

Guibo is used in addition to the u-joint.

So if I have to drop the exaust pipes to get to the guibo would it be wise to replace the u-joints and the center hanger bearing? Also, when you drop the exaust pipes to you need any new gaskets when puting back together?

Unfortunately, it is hard to draw the line (it's only money), but I would replace the u-joints. If you cal just lower the exhaust system to gain access without taking it apart, then it should be safe to stick with the same gaskets, otherwise, you never want to reuse old gaskets.

You should be able to see and touch the guibo at the back of the tranny without removing any parts. You are looking for frayed rubber that is slapping the tunnel.
