M Logo Clutch

Hey guys

just got my hands on 95 m3 -- its got a lot of miles on it and needs a lot of TLC but it seems pretty solid on the motor and tranny part of it

My question is how do i know that clutch is getting old and needs to be replaced
the previous owner said that it needs to be replaced but it seems fine to me

the only thing that may be wrong with it is it slips maybe in the high rmps when the gas peddle is to the floor

I know that when my 318 ti s clutch went -- it slipped up in the High rmps and it smelt like buring breaks or burning something but there isnt a smell coming from this car??

maybe its fine and i should stop worrying about it -- what do you think??

When it needs to be replaced depends on how you drive.

autocross
race
hard street driving
normal street driving

My clutch was fine on the street but slipped in AX and racing situations.

To monitor the state of the clutch you need to stress it by doing quick starts and slipping it from high RPMs.

I would drive it until the slipping bothers you or until you save up the money and time to put in a new one.
