Rear Fog Lights
Hello to all. I thought I should finally register instead of just browsing. I have been looking for clear instructions on how to connect the rear fog lights on my 1990 325is. I have the 2 button euro switch. Maybe I'm a little slow but nothing I have seen on line makes sense to me. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!

The rear fog lamps were a euro-only option. I'm not sure if the USA cars have the wiring for the rear fog. You might have to run some wires to the rear of the car yourself, but I'm not really sure...
There is also some wiring for the indicator lamp on the gauge cluster... -Wayne

I wanted to do this myself but then i thought about it and saw pictures of it. Its cool because its different and we like our cars to be euro but know that it is just one light on the left side of the car and 99.7% of the people on the road will think you have a blown bulb.

You should be able to find a writeup for this mod for your car. Here it is for an E39:

I looked into this as well on my 85 325e. I didn't find any wires.

I spoke too soon. I have seen it on an E36 but not and E30. I did find one website that looked like htey were working on a E30 rear fog mod but it said "not ready yet."

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The E39 info seems pretty close to what I need to do. I do have sockets in both tail lights but no wires or pins so when I have everything apart to change the carpet and rear seat I will try to wire them up and post something to let you know how it went. Thanks again! I have also been watching the other site with the "not ready yet" fog lamps for over a year. I sent him an email and he said it wouldn't be any time soon.

Yup, that E39 info is just what I thought - you'd have to run wires down the car to do it. Heck, if you're going to be doing all of this work, you might as well install an aftermarket CD changer or NAV system as well, since you're running all of those wires.
Seems like a neat project, but I personally wouldn't do it, as it's never really foggy here... -Wayne
