530 oil change
I have a 02 530 ,when installing a new oil filter do you fill the housing with oil or not?Thanks- Mack

I don't when changing the filter on my '325i. And that isn't suggested in Wayne's article on oil changes:

You can try to fill the oil filter housing but you wont get much to stay because when the top is removed the oil drains down into the oil pan.
I tried it a couple of weeks ago during my Fall oil changes and I think I was able to get 1/4 qt caught in the housing by quickly replacing the cap. It isn't worth the trouble but it emphasizes why you should change the oil hot and why you should start the car immediately after the oil change for a few seconds.
