performance chip

I have a 325es year: 1986 5 speed manual. I purchased a performance chip from "Turner" but the car did not start. It only started when I put back the stock chip on the "DME"

I purchased another performance chip from "Bavarian Autosport"
same problem, the car did not start, It only started when I put back the stock chip on the "DME"

The "DME' that my car has was re manufactured by "Programa". at www.programainc.com 0 261 200 027

What is causing this problem? How can I correct it?

Wow, clearly you've got a problem with the chip and the ignition module. Let me get some good information for you from a good friend of mine who runs REVO chip tuning. I'll get back to you with an answer.

I'm going to post the reply I got from the magager at REVO chips, maybe it will be helpful.

"Is this person saying they have a replacement ECU fitted to their car from this company? If so, maybe there is a mismatch, that although fits and works fine, may have a conflict with the performance EPROM's from the separate tuners due to a slight spec change in ECU module!! Not sure!! It could be that the ECU fitted was just the internal part of the ECU and he fitted into the old case. If the ECU PCB had a different part# and worked, but but the person ordered the Chip relative to the ECU# on the case, then there's a possibility also!

Secondly, it could be just coincidence that both chips have checksum errors or bad files!

I just bought a stock DME from from an old 1986 e30, I installed it on my car, no problems the car starts, then I changed the stock chip for the performance chip, the car did not start. I have two DME, my car will start with either one of them, But if I put the performance chip in any one of them my car won't start, Mr. Bruce see if you could help me with that or anyone reading this E-mail massage, What should I do next????
