91 318 aux.fan?

Hello, I need a little bit of help,
i replaced the temp sender, the aux fan switch tested the fan for low/high speed (works). replaced the thermastat and water pump.

I still only have the aux.fan working when the air is switched on.

Last thing i can think of is the fan clutch.
not sure what else to check..?
and yes all the fuses where checked.

ok i need a brain to help. Thanks in advance.

The aux fan only runs when the a/c is on or if the radiator temp gets above the fan switch rating. Are you sure that your radiator temp is getting high enough during you test.

Possibly a relay, I'll have to look in the morning to see if there are seperate relays for the high and low side.

Oh, there is no fan clutch on the aux fan.

The 91 E318 is and E30 right?

You said you checked the fuses but here they are anyway:
#3 low speed
#18 high speed
#19 and #20 could effect the fan too

It looks like the relays are:
K1 low speed
K6 high speed

Thank you much.
I'll get out there and test the low speed relay.
the temp gage just is a bit over mid point and Iam worried its
the fan clutch still. maybe ordering one of those and some water wetter soon. getting the car ready for spring hoses belts and and maintenance stuff.

To test the clutch on the primary fan try to stop it with some rolled up newspaper. It should not stop.
