97 328I seat problem

Am having terrible time finding part number for driver side power front seat backrest adjustment gearbox for daughters car. Seat makes clicking noise and I believe that may be the problem?

Probably the recline gear is broken. Very common! You're in luck BMW doesn't sell the part but within the last year a part has been custom made to fix it.

Jeron, where do you continually find these obscure solutions that most folks wouldn't even have contemplated looking for? Kudos.

Reading BMW tech forums is like my second job.

My recline broke a couple of years ago. I pulled the seat, verified it was the gear and just set the seat back at a comfortable fixed position. That was a few months before the odo-gear-guy finished designing his part and I was planning to get race seats anyway.

I still don't have the race seats but I'm close, so close.
