reworked cylinder head

Hey guys,
Just put the head back on my 1993 318is, and it starts and idles, but is really noisy. I am guessing it is the lifters trying to get the air out. I also notice that at a higher rpm, it has no power and it runs rough. Could it be a bad O2 sensor, or something like that. The head was reworked because of a crack and coolant loss. I bought it this way. Any thoughts on what ould be ailing my little car? For what it is worth, I am using 5w30 oil to get it all worked in again.

How long have you let it run? There is a TSB about air in the hydraulic lifters that specs a time and RPM range. I think it is a couple of minutes at 3k to help bleed air from the lifters.

I have run it for a little while. My next question would be how far off would the timing have to be, to be hitting valves. It is an M42 engine.
